Playing with print mixing. This idea came about after I saw a photo of a model wearing a red and white polka dot top with a black and white striped knit pencil skirt. I wondered about mixing polka dots with stripes and intended to do a post about mixing polka dot with stripes; but while looking for a polka dot top to work with I came across this multicoloured cotton blend ‘W.&.L.T’ shirt from Walter Van Beirendonck Vintage and I couldn’t resist using it.

I was at first going for a look similar to what the model was wearing so I tried a black and white striped fitted knit skirt; but then I came across this multicoloured silk mask print skirt from DSQUARED2, and while it’s probably an insane choice to mix such a colorful mixed print top with a such a colorful mixed print skirt, I loved the look that was coming together.

White seemed like the best choice for the bag and the shoes so I went with a white Victoria Beckham Liberty leather tote bag and a pair of white Charlotte Olympia Mistress Dolly leather platform pumps.
I love that the pumps are studded. It makes their whiteness less bridal so they work with the wild mix of prints and colors. They add a touch of the demure while maintaining the rebellious “I’m going to dress like a wild bird of Paradise if I want and I don’t care what you think about it” look
