Just came across a Daily Mail article about Kendall Jenner and the fact that she didn’t land a spot in Balmain’s Spring 2015 ad campaign which features supermodels Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Isabeli Fontana and Crista Cober.

The article’s headline reads “Was it something she said? Kendall Jenner fails to make it into Balmain’s new campaign – despite being BFFs with the brand’s creative director“.

It’s obviously just the Daily Mail trying to stir things up. After all, who says that just being friends with the creative director of Balmain means that any model will get to star in their ad campaign? The Daily Mail seemed to be attempting to make out Kendall’s absence from the campaign to be seriously puzzling. They made reference to the fact that Kendall was crowned by Tumblr as 2014’s most popular model; but being the most popular model as voted by social media fans and followers doesn’t really mean much. It certainly doesn’t mean you’ll get picked ahead of well established models to star in big brand ad campaigns. Kendall has a long way to go and she probably knows it better than the rest of us.

Did the models refuse to work with Kendall?

The models featured in the Balmain Spring 2015 campaign have been established in the business for so many years that it wouldn’t be much of a surprise if it turns out one of more of them refused to work with Kendall. But this assumes Kendall was even considered. She probably wasn’t. After all you don’t put together a group of models that includes Adriana Lima, Joan Smalls, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Isabeli Fontana unless you have a certain vision for your campaign that does not include using a model who isn’t as established as these ladies. No offense to Kendall. Kendall probably knows better than the rest of us that she’s not in the big leagues yet and won’t soon be starring in ad campaigns alongside 4 of the world’s hottest supermodels.

As for the ad campaign

How awesome do these ladies look. It is great to see supermodels looking strong and healthy. Check out muscular definition on Adriana Lima. Adriana has always been pretty impressive in terms of appearing to be very dedicated to being strong, fit and healthy first and foremost. Most of the other models look very strong and fit as well which is a good thing. We need more women in their position showing girls that they don’t have to suffer themselves to try to achieve some sickly thin ideal. Daily Mail article
