New York Fashion Week Diane von Furstenberg

About to start watching the replay of the New York Fashion Week Diane von Furstenberg Spring-Summer 2015 Show. Read that Kendall Jenner walked in the show so looking forward to seeing her as well as Naomi Campbell. Kendall Jenner is really making a name for herself. You’ve got to hand it to her.

My Review of The Show

The music to which the models walked was a little distracting. If the song is well known excuse me for being ignorant of the fact. I’m not familiar with it or the singer and I found it way over the top. As the first model is walking out the guy is singing in a very raspy voice that his English isn’t so good but he wants to let some girl know that he thinks she’s such a pretty little girl. Not such a big crime when you read it but the way he sang it sounded a little dirty to me.

I know every little girl, and even us not so little girls, likes to know someone thinks we’re pretty hot; but I have to admit, the feminist in me found it difficult to sit still and stay quiet and just watch the show. The song–the way it was being sung and the lyrics had her (my inner feminist) wondering at the appropriateness of its use as background music at a major fashion show. It’s hard enough to get people to take models seriously and respect them for what they do rather than how they look.

Once my annoying inner feminist stepped out of my head I was able to watch the show without being bothered by the music. The show was one of the best I’ve seen so far if not the best I’ve seen so far. The models were not like robots. You could see a glimmer of personality. They walked more gracefully and fluidly. They seemed more poised and confident and womanly somehow. They put a hole in my theory from yesterday that it might be more effective to make the clothes the focus and not the model. I think the models in this show gave the clothes that extra something that would make women want to buy. So you might actually do better to give the clothes a sense of life and the model wearing the clothes is the only one who can do that. If she herself seems not to be alive but to be a robot the clothes don’t look as interesting as they might. Just my random BS-ing.

Kendall

I was impressed with Kendall. She’s no joke. She means business out there. She’s clearly taking this mission of hers to become a world renowned model very seriously. Yes she has advantages but that alone won’t guarantee someone will go places in life. Kendall clearly has the drive and ambition and talent she needs.

Naomi

Naomi looked great out there. She’s proves over 40s can still kill it on the catwalk with eighteen year old girls.

The collection

I don’t think I saw anything that wasn’t nice even if I did not exactly respond to anything with wild desire to obtain. Diane von Furstenberg’s collection looks wearable. There was nothing that looked like it required you to have the high society lifestyle to go with the dress. If you have the money to afford them you can fit the pieces into the life you have. You don’t need to brand new life to go with your brand new dress.
