I don’t own any red designer handbags yet. I used to say not so long ago that even if I had money I wouldn’t spend the kind of money they charge for designer goods just to say I owned designer stuff; but I am beginning to think differently. If I have money and I see something I like and I want it if getting it will not affect me in any way except to make me feel guilty that I spent $3000 on a bag I’ll go ahead and get the bag because there’s no point to that kind of guilt. That kind of guilt comes from accepting an idea that you shouldn’t want anything. It comes from accepting the notion that you should be happy with nothing because that makes you more real and more noble.
